Tom Petty plans ‘Mojo’ tour

Heartbreakers' 36-city trek supports upcoming album

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers on Thursday revealed plans for a North American tour in support of their upcoming release “Mojo” (Reprise), their first studio album in eight years.

Produced by Live Nation, the 36-city trek across the U.S. and Canada kicks off May 6 in Raleigh, N.C.

Joe Cocker will open for the band at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles on May 22.

Organizers have encouraged online business by touting the inclusion with each electronic ticket of an MP3 download of every track on the Rock and Roll Hall of Famers’ new disc, slated for release in the spring. As part of the online package, a selection of tracks recorded during the live dates will be delivered at the end of the tour, which wraps in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., on Aug. 27.
