Benefit concert to help flood relief in Tennessee
The all-star June 22 “Nashville Rising” concert at Music City’s Bridgestone Arena raised more than $2.2 million to benefit flood relief efforts in Tennessee.
The money, comprising ticket sales, donations and corporate sponsorships, will be distributed by the nonprofit Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee’s Emergency Response Fund.
Country stars Faith Hill and Tim McGraw organized the benefit, which was presented by a coalition of major concert promoters that included AEG Live/The Messina Group, Live Nation and Outback Concerts (Variety, June 21). Headliners included Taylor Swift, Miley Cyrus, Carrie Underwood, Toby Keith, Lynyrd Skynyrd and ZZ Top. Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen and actress Sandra Bullock were among those making special appearances.
