Nick Wyman has been elected prexy of legit thesps union Actors’ Equity Association, along with 18 other union members tapped to serve terms on the org’s National Council.
Wyman, whose Broadway credits include “The Phantom of the Opera,” “Les Miserables” and “A Tale of Two Cities,” will lead the union’s government of elected members. He has been on the org’s National Council and served on committees and on teams that have negotiated production contracts.
Elections also were held for vacant posts to rep performers in categories broken down into principal thesps, chorus members and stage managers. Thirteen reps (including Dana Ivey in the principal category) were tapped for the eastern region, with two upped from the central regional and three from the western U.S.
More than 6,500 votes were cast. Terms range from three to five years.
A new exec director for Equity remains to be named, with Carol Waaser on board as acting exec director in the wake of John Connolly’s departure at the end of his first term in the position.
