Preston Whiteway, exec director of the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center, has reupped his contract with the org for another three years.
The legit development center in Waterford, Conn., recently picked up the 2010 Tony for regional theater. Among the center’s programs are the annual National Playwrights Conference and the National Music Theater Conference, both of which have yielded a number of prominent projects including “Avenue Q,” “In the Heights” and several plays by August Wilson.
Whiteway, who began at the O’Neill as general manager in 2004, was upped to exec director in 2007. During his tenure, donations and grants have been on the increase, as have the revenue and enrollment for the org’s undergrad training program, according to O’Neill reps.
The center just wrapped its 46th annual summer season.
