Peter Strauss, Roberta Maxwell, Larry Bryggman and Larry Pine are among thesps lined up to star in “Top Secret: The Battle for the Pentagon Papers,” a docu-play set to run at Off Broadway’s New York Theater Workshop in spring.
Play by Geoffrey Cowan and Leroy Aarons centers on the 1971 battle between Washington Post publisher Katharine Graham and the Nixon administration over the publication of classified documents concerning U.S. involvement in Vietnam.
Maxwell plays Graham and Strauss stars as Post editor Ben Bradlee, while Pine and Bryggman portray Nixon and Attorney General John Mitchell, respectively.
Play has previously been seen in a 2007-08 tour.
Helmed by John Rubinstein, “Top Secret” is a co-production with L.A. Theater Works and Affinity Collaborative Theater. Previews start Feb. 24 before a March 9 opening.
