The 2010 Tony noms will be announced May 4, according to the official sked put out by the orgs that run the kudos.
Announcement from the American Theater Wing and the Broadway League is the first official acknowledgement of the date, although the noms had long seemed likely to be announced then. Nominations are traditionally released the Tuesday morning following the season’s eligibility cutoff, this year pegged at April 29.
The May 4 nom date puts the annual day-after press reception on May 5, with the no-media-allowed luncheon for the nominees slated for May 20.
This year the ceremony itself, as usual televised live on CBS from Radio City Music Hall, is skedded for June 13.
The current Broadway season will pick up steam in the coming weeks as the eligibility deadline approaches, with a flurry of activity coming at the last minute. In the four days prior to April 29, “Promises, Promises,” “Fences,” “Enron” and “Collected Stories” all open in rapid succession.
