George Hearn (“Sunset Boulevard”), Rondi Reed (“August: Osage County”), James Snyder (“Cry-Baby”) and Fred Applegate (“Young Frankenstein”) are among the thesps lined up for the Encores! production of “Fanny.”
Elena Shaddow (“The Woman in White”) stars as the title character in the 1954 tuner based on a trilogy of novels by Marcel Pagnol. Snyder plays the sailor with whom Fanny falls in love, while Applegate portrays the older man she marries for convenience.
With songs by Harold Rome and book by S.N. Behrman and Joshua Logan, “Fanny” will be directed by Mark Bruni (“Ordinary Days”) as part of the annual Encores! series of concert readings that has yielded Rialto fare including the long-running revival of “Chicago.”
Fanny” runs Feb. 4-7.
