Thesp exits 'Ragtime' for Off B'way production

Bobby Steggert, currently on Broadway in the soon-to-shutter revival of “Ragtime,” will star in an upcoming Off Broadway production of “Yank!” at York Theater Company.

“Yank!” has attracted a slow but steady stream of Gotham attention since it appeared as part of the New York Musical Theater Fest in 2005. With music by Joseph Zellnik and book and lyrics by David Zellnik, show centers on a romance between two WWII soldiers.

Steggert will play a draftee who becomes a photog for an Army magazine. He previously appeared in a 2007 production of “Yank!” at the Gallery Players in Brooklyn.

“Yank!” kicks off previews at the York Feb. 16 ahead of a Feb. 24 opening.
