Star producers on Broadway

Biggest names are above the title

This season hasn’t lacked stars, and that goes for the producing credits, too.

Shows reflected topics near and dear to producers’ hearts: Elton John presented the gay-themed “Next Fall” and Will Smith put his imprimatur on Nigerian composer Fela Kuti biotuner “Fela!” Neither name has pushed the shows to SRO status, but then, imagine the B.O. without their attachment.

The star creds even stretch beyond the Rialto. Lily Tomlin brings “My Trip Down the Pink Carpet” to Off Broadway, and USA’s “Psych” thesp Dule Hill produced the very dark “Extinction” for his co-star James Roday.
