New show not enough to offset smaller houses

NEW YORK — Road grosses dipped slightly to 0.3% in Week 18 (Sept. 20-26), despite four of the 10 shows pulling in more than $1 million. The addition of “9 to 5″ to the slate could not offset moves to smaller houses by a number of other productions. Boston’s “Wicked” company brought in the week’s highest gross — $1,661,501. Both “Wicked” companies broke house records this week, with the production in Madison, Wis., netting $1,258,987. The total gross for the 10 tours was $9,352,635. Mary Poppins played only seven performances during its first week in Indianapolis.
