Preems for Boston boards

'Prophet,' 'Vengeance' highlights Huntington season

Two world preems — Stephen Karam’s “Sons of the Prophet” and Bob Glaudini’s “Vengeance is the Lord’s” — will highlight the 2010-11 season at Boston’s Huntington Theater Company.

Former Huntington head Nicholas Martin will open the Beantown season with a revival of William Inge’s “Bus Stop,” running Sept. 17 to Oct. 24.

Other slots will be filled with Annie Baker’s “Circle Mirror Transformation,” helmed by Malia Bensussen; Lynn Nottage’s “Ruined,” staged by Liesel Tommy (a co-pro with La Jolla Playhouse and Berkeley Repertory Theater); and Willy Russell’s “Educating Rita.”

A.D. Peter DuBois will stage “Vengeance” by Glaudini (“Jack Goes Boating”) Nov. 12 to Dec. 12 and “Prophet” by Karam (“Speech & Debate”) March 25 to April 24. Karam’s play was commissioned and is being produced by special arrangement with Gotham’s Roundabout Theater Company.

Season closer will be “Comedy or Errors” in rep with “Richard III” by Edward Hall’s U.K.-based Propeller Theater Company. Production is in association with Boston University’s School of Theater.
