Type A Marketing, the New York-based company that has worked on Broadway and touring fare including “The Phantom of the Opera” and “The Addams Family,” has named Michael Porto to the new post of exec VP.
Most recently, Porto was director of marketing and communications for Arizona State University’s ASU Gammage, which legiters generally consider one of the most robust touring markets in North America.
Porto, who is one of the co-chairs of the Broadway League’s Road Marketing Committee, also brings experience from M.A.P. Marketing Group. He founded the company in 1997, working with clients including Colorado Shakespeare Festival, the Boulder Philharmonic and the U.S. Olympic Committee.
Porto joins Type A prexy Anne Rippey in overseeing operations and marketing approaches for titles on Broadway and beyond.
Current Type A clients include national tours of “Dreamgirls” and “A Chorus Line,” Broadway engagements of “La Bete” and “Promises, Promises” and the upcoming revival of “How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying” starring Daniel Radcliffe.
