Beaty's solo show to get Off Broadway run
A new Off Broadway production of Daniel Beaty’s play “Through the Night” is enlisting a team of “artistic ambassadors,” including Bill Cosby, Phylicia Rashad, Ruby Dee and Brian Stokes Mitchell to help attract attention.
The attached ambassadors are on tap for aud development activities and personal appearances but aren’t financial participants in the show, which is produced by Daryl Roth (“Love, Loss and What I Wore”) at the Union Square Theater.
Directed by Charles Randolph-Wright, the latest solo show by Beaty (“Emergence-See!”) previously played Gotham in a stint at the Riverside Church. In “Night” the writer-performer portrays a number of characters, all of whom have an epiphany on the same evening.
Production begins previews Sept. 10 ahead of a Sept. 26 opening.
