Lakers shirt fits playwright to a T
At the curtain call for the June 23 Hollywood preem of “In the Heights” at the Pantages, creator-star Lin-Manuel Miranda appeared wearing a Latino-themed Los Lakers T-shirt.
“I don’t follow basketball but I saw that last game,” Miranda said at the Station Hollywood after-party. “I used to follow the Knicks circa 1990s.”
The gesture was a big hit with the aud, which included U execs Donna Langley and Adam Fogelson plus helmer Kenny Ortega, who are planning a movie version. That Hollywood connection is one reason why Miranda decided “to jump back in” the tuner. “The audience is not that different from New York,” he added. “There are a couple more famous people here.”
