The Midtown North and South precincts of the Gotham police department have been added to the list of recipients for the 2010 Tony Honors.
Precincts cover the theater district area, where the majority of Main Stem venues are located and where the May 1 bomb scare in Times Square occurred.
According to the Broadway League, the precincts had been tapped for the award last month, but because the NYPD is a city agency, the org first had to ensure the kudo could be accepted.
The precincts join a roster of Tony Honors recipients that this year includes the Alliance for Resident Theater New York, fight director B.H. Barry and Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS exec director Tom Viola.
Honors, given each year to people or orgs not eligible for standard Tony categories, will be handed out at the Tony ceremony June 13.
