NEW YORK Columbus Day weekend brought a holiday bump to Broadway, with most shows on the boards logging nice rises in weekly receipts.
Overall Broadway sales rose $2.6 million to about $20 million for 31 shows on the boards. That’s off about $650,000 vs. the same frame last year, when there were 29 shows running. Attendance hit 86% vs. 2009’s 87%.
The 23 musicals grossed $17,502,059 for 87.6% of the Broadway total, with attendance of 198,191 at 82.9% capacity and average paid admission of $88.31.
The eight plays grossed $2,482,810 for 12.4% of the total, with attendance of 41,818 at 77.5% capacity and average paid admission of $59.37.
Average paid admission was $83.27 for all shows.
