‘Looped’ to close on Sunday

Broadway play to close after disappointing B.O.

The Broadway production of Talulah Bankhead bio-play “Looped” will shutter April 11 after logging disappointing sales.

Although star Valerie Harper earned generally favorable reviews for her performance as Bankhead, the play itself received more of a mixed response. Weekly grosses have come in at less than the $200,000 since the production began previews in late March.

Show, which also stars Brian Hutchison and Michael Mulheren, centers on a disastrous real-life studio session during which an inebriated Bankhead tried — and repeatedly failed — to loop a single line of dialogue in what would turn out to be her last film.
