‘La Cage’ to be set free on the road

National tour will launch in fall 2010

The Tony-nommed revival of “La Cage aux Folles” has already laid the groundwork for a U.S. tour, with the production set to hit the road in fall 2011.

Tuner, a production originally staged at London’s Menier Chocolate Factory, racked up 11 Tony noms on Tuesday, tying for the highest tally with “Fela!”

Toplined by Kelsey Grammer and Douglas Hodge — who picked up an Olivier for his perf in the role in Blighty — “La Cage” opened last month to glowing reviews.

Road incarnation will be produced by Broadway backers Sonia Friedman Prods., David Babani and Fran and Barry Weissler.

Casting and schedule details remain to be nailed down.
