Santino Fontana (“Brighton Beach Memoirs”) and David Furr (“Accent on Youth”) are among the leads in the Roundabout Theater Company’s upcoming Broadway revival of Oscar Wilde comedy “The Importance of Being Earnest.”
Staging is directed by Brian Bedford, who also stars, in drag, as Lady Bracknell. Bedford pulled the same double-duty in a 2009 production of the play at Canada’s Stratford Festival.
Fontana (as Algernon) and Furr (as Jack) will trade witticisms with Charlotte Parry (“Coram Boy”) and Sara Topham as paramours Cecily and Gwendolyn, respectively. Dana Ivey, Paxton Whitehead, Tim MacDonald and Paul O’Brien also are in the cast.
Production begins previews Dec. 17 ahead of a Jan. 13 opening at the Roundabout’s American Airlines Theater.
