Fitzgerald, Scott, Baker to Williamstown

'Forum,' 'Our Town,' new plays on fest's slate

Christopher Fitzgerald, Dylan Baker, Campbell Scott and Jessica Hecht are among the thesps lined up for the 2010 Williamstown Theater Festival season, which includes “Our Town,” “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum” and three new works.

Fitzgerald (“Finian’s Rainbow,” “Young Frankenstein”) will play the lead in “Forum” (June 30-July 11), the 1962 Stephen Sondheim-Burt Shevelove-Larry Gelbart tuner that centers on a slave who must help his master woo a woman. Jessica Stone, who has acted in Main Stem offerings including “The Odd Couple,” directs.

Baker, his wife Becky Ann Baker, Scott and Hecht (“A View From the Bridge”) will appear in “Our Town” (July 28-Aug. 8). WTF a.d. Nicholas Martin will helm.

Also in the lineup at WTF, the annual summer legit fest in Williamstown, Mass., are three new works, starting with the tuner “It’s Jewdy’s Show!” (June 23-July 4) by Judy Gold and Kate Moira Ryan. It has music composed by Gold, with lyrics by Ryan and Gold; Amanda Charlton helms.

Amy Herzog’s “After the Revolution” and Mat Smart’s “Samuel J. and K.” will also receive stagings, with exact dates to be determined.

The two revivals will play in WTF’s larger mainstage space, with the new pieces on the second stage. Two more mainstage offerings and one in the smaller venue remain to be announced.
