Arianda, Hill, Jones, Robbins get nods for legit work
Nina Arianda, Jon Michael Hill, Kendrick Jones and Noah Robbins are the legit finalists for the inaugural Clive Barnes Awards.
Kudos are run by the Clive Barnes Foundation, established following the 2008 death of the longtime theater and dance critic.
Jones is nommed for the role he currently reprises on Broadway in “The Scottsboro Boys,” following an Off Broadway run in the spring. Hill got the nod for his Rialto stint in “Superior Donuts,” with Arianda and Robbins tapped for Off Broadway outings “Venus in Fur” and “Secrets of the Trade,” respectively.
Five dance finalists are also nommed, including Aaron Carr (Keigwin + Company), Ghrai DeVore (Alvin Ailey), Chase Finlay (New York City Ballet) and Hee Seo and Leann Underwood (both of American Ballet Theater).
Winners will be announced by Cherry Jones, currently on the Main Stem in “Mrs. Warren’s Profession,” and ballet veteran Fredric Franklin in an afternoon ceremony Nov. 9 at Lincoln Center’s Walter Reade Theater.
