Douglas sails to ‘Venice’ in opener

Theater sets lineup for 2010-11 season

The world preem of Eric Rosen and Matt Sax’s “Venice,” Off Broadway hit “This” and Martin McDonagh’s “The Cripple of Inishmaan” are among the plays in the lineup for the Kirk Douglas Theater’s 2010-11 season.

“Venice,” which began as a DouglasPlus production, will be the first program graduate to receive a full run at the theater. It kicks off the new season Oct. 7.

DouglasPlus, a Center Theater Group program for more experimental work, will put on Tim Crouch’s “The Author,” solo performance artist Roger Guenveur Smith’s “Juan and John,” theater collective Rude Mechs’ “The Method Gun” and Jamie Adkins’ family-friendly piece “Circus INcognitus.”
