Shannen Doherty and Ralph Macchio are among the thesps lined up for an industry reading of new play “A Room of My Own.”
Comedy by Charles Messina (“Cirque Jacqueline”) follows a playwright’s foundering attempts to write a play about growing up with his Italian-American family. Doherty is cast as the nun who is the head of the school attended by the scribe’s younger self.
Mario Cantone and Valerie Smaldone also are among the cast of the Sept. 20 Gotham reading, presented as part of the Bleecker Street Theater Company’s Play Development series.
Robert Nicotra and Josselyne Herman-Saccio produce, with Ted Kurdyla (“Phone Booth,” “Tigerland”) on board as exec producer.
