Soon there might be some singing with wolves to go along with all that dancing.
Producer Matt Murphy (“Memphis,” “Altar Boyz”) has acquired the stage rights to the Michael Blake novel “Dances With Wolves,” which inspired the 1990 movie that scored seven Oscars.
Murphy wants to adapt the story into a big-budget tuner with a score drawing on Civil War-era song traditions including Appalachian, Native American and folk.
Plot centers on a Civil War lieutenant who goes native with a local Sioux tribe.
With the project in the very early stages of development, no details on a timeline or a creative team have yet been nailed down.
