Braff on board with Weitz’s ‘Trust’

Peter DuBois to helm the dark comedy

Zach Braff, Bobby Cannavale, Sutton Foster and Ari Graynor are on tap to star in the world preem of Paul Weitz’s Off Broadway play “Trust.”

Braff, whose most recent Off Broadway credit was the Public Theater’s 2002 staging of “Twelfth Night” in Central Park, plays a rich married man whose mistrust of everything he has pushes him to search for something else. Dark comedy is helmed by Peter DuBois, who directed the well-received Second Stage production of “Becky Shaw” in 2009.

“Trust” is the third play by film writer-director Weitz (“About a Boy,” “In Good Company”) to bow at Second Stage, following “Privilege” (2005) and “Show People” (2006).

Design team includes Alexander Dodge (sets), “Project Runway” alum Emilio Sosa (costumes), David Weiner (lights) and M.L. Dogg (sound).

Production is set to begin previews July 23 ahead of an Aug. 12 opening.
