Billy Crudup tops ‘Metal’

Actor stars in new Adam Rapp play

Billy Crudup will topline the world preem of Adam Rapp play “The Metal Children” at Off Broadway’s Vineyard Theater.

Crudup, who picked up a 2007 Tony for his perf in “The Coast of Utopia,” will play a New York scribe who visits a small town where one of his young adult novels has been banned.

Playwright Rapp (“Red Light Winter”) has himself penned a YA novel that was banned by a school board in Pennsylvania. Rapp also directs “Metal Children,” for which further casting remains to be announced.

Show begins previews May 4 ahead of a May 19 opening at the Vineyard.
