Hardy takes ‘Long Red Road’

Brit thesp to appear in Philip Seymour Hoffman helmed play

Brit thesp Tom Hardy will topline the cast of Brett C. Leonard’s play “The Long Red Road,” helmed by Philip Seymour Hoffman at Chicago’s Goodman Theater.

In “Road,” Hardy (“Wuthering Heights,” “RocknRolla”) — also cast in the upcoming Mad Max pic “Fury Road” — will play Sam, a man who drinks to avoid facing the haunting events of his past. Chris McGarry, Marcos Akiaten, Greta Honold, Fiona Robert and Katy Sullivan also are among the cast of the show, set on a Native American reservation in South Dakota.

Leonard and Hoffman have previously worked together through LAByrinth Theater Company, the org co-founded by Hoffman that produced Leonard’s plays “Unconditional” and “Guinea Pig Solo.”

Long Red Road” will world preem at the Goodman Feb. 13-March 14.
