China announces award in memory of producer

CHINA–The Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum will dedicate a new award to the memory of Fortissimo Films co-founder Wouter Barendrecht, who is credited with bringing filmmakers like Wong Kar-wai to a global audience.

The HK$50,000 ($6,440) Wouter Barendrecht Award remembers the producer who died last April, age 43. The award is open to helmers of three films or less who are participating in the Hong Kong-Asia Film Financing Forum, which will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Center from Mar. 22-24.

Barendrecht is co-founder of the HAF.
