Wanda orders servers from GDC

Deployment to be completed by early 2012

Chinese exhib Wanda Cinema has ordered 280 digital cinema servers and 45 Theater Management Systems from GDC Technology.

Deployment is due to be completed by the first quarter of 2012.

The massive expansion in the number of cinemas in China has been crucial in driving the impressive rise of the Chinese biz.

Wanda, which was named Exhibitor of the Year at CineAsia 2010, has built 21 multiplexes with more than 200 screens in the past five years, totaling 71 multiplex and 600 screens, and it reps 15% of the total box office revenue in China.

For its part, GDC now leads in the field of providing servers to digital cinema theaters in China with more than 90% market share.
