Universal comedy to bow Dec. 22

Audiences will have to wait to meet the newest Fockers.

Universal pushed back its release of comedy sequel “Little Fockers” to Wednesday, Dec. 22, with hopes of benefiting from the long Christmas weekend.

Studio will also release the upcoming Matt Damon, Emily Blunt starrer “The Adjustment Bureau” on July 30, “Fockers” original launch date.

“Fockers” will now go head-to-head in a crowded frame with Sony’s comic book adaptation “The Green Hornet,” Warner Bros.’ “Life As We Know It” and 20th Century Fox’s re-imagining of “Gulliver’s Travels,” starring Blunt.

Paramount’s Coen Brothers remake “True Grit” opens Dec. 25.

As U’s latest addition to the “Meet the Parents” franchise, “Fockers” returns stars Ben Stiller, Robert DeNiro and Barbra Streisand. “Parents” grossed $166.2 million in 2000, while “Meet the Fockers” opened to $46.1 million the same day in 2004 with a domestic cume of $279.2 million.

U will launch Michael Cera comedy “Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” on Aug. 13.
