Weinsteins aim to overturn film's NC-17 rating

The Weinstein Co. will hold a special screening of “Blue Valentine” this weekend for guild members and the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn. to rally support for its fight to overturn the film’s restrictive NC-17 rating.

Pic, starring Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams, received the rating for what the MPAA described as its “shocking, gory depiction of a dying marriage.” An appeals hearing is set for Wednesday.

This weekend’s screening will be held at the Harmony Gold Preview House in Los Angeles. Those attending will be asked to log their opinions about the rating on a special website.
