TRAILER: Mark Romanek’s ‘Never Let Me Go’

Neverletmego_boffo It may only be June but you can already smell the Oscar blossoms in the air.

This morning, Apple debuted the first trailer for director Mark Romanek’s bigscreen adaptation of “Never Let Me Go,” and it looks…well…beautiful.

Foxsearchlight_boffo The Fox Searchlight pic, which apparently brought Spike Jonze to tears, features some of the most-coveted British actresses on the planet, including Carey Mulligan, Sally Hawkins, Keira Knightley and “Swimming Pool” star Charlotte Rampling. Andrew Garfield (“Red Riding” trilogy) also stars.

Based on the award-winning novel by Kazuo Ishiguro, “Never Let Me Go” revolves around three childhood friends who later realize they are being groomed for dark and mysterious reasons.

Romanek, who last-directed the indie serial pic “One Hour Photo, is also an acclaimed music video director, working with such artists as Madonna, R.E.M. and Morrissey.

“Never Let Me Go” opens nationwide October 1, 2010.
