Stars come out for fest closer
The Toronto Film Fest started to wind down Thursday night with “Casino Jack” as stars Kevin Spacey, Jon Lovitz, a very pregnant Kelly Preston and helmer George Hickenlooper gathered at Roy Thomson Hall.
Forty-eight hours later, Massy Tadjedin’s directorial debut, appropriately titled “Last Night,” closed the 35th edition of the fest. Pic, originally set to be released by Miramax, saw its launch postponed when the Mouse House began shopping the specialty arm.
Obviously, distribution was on cast and crew’s mind at the thumping Atelier after-party. Pic’s Eva Mendes said she was willing to “do anything” to publicize the film.
“It’s like being pregnant,” Tadjedin said of the wait to see her film unspool. “It went on far too long.”
