Thomas Haden Church has landed two key roles: Black comedy “Killer Joe,” toplining Matthew McConaughey and Emile Hirsch, and Cameron Crowe’s Matt Damon topliner “We Bought a Zoo.”
William Friedkin is directing “Killer Joe” for Nicolas Chartier’s Voltage Pictures. Production begins early next month in New Orleans. Playwright Tracy Letts is penning the adapted script based on his play about a detective who doubles as a hired killer.
Church will play the role of Hirsch’s father.
Next up for Church after “Killer Joe” is “We Bought a Zoo,” from 20th Century Fox. Film is based on Benjamin Mee
’s memoir and will start production in early 2011.
Church is currently in theaters in teenage comedy “Easy A.”
