Indie drama to shoot in Baton Rouge

Lorraine Nicholson, Lee Majors and Bruce Dern are rounding out the cast of indie drama “The Big Valley,” set for shooting in Baton Rouge, La., on July 26.

Jessica Lange has been announced previously as the lead, portraying Victoria Barkley in the role originated by Barbara Stanwyck in the 1960s TV series about the widowed matriarch of a wealthy ranching family.

Nicholson will play the role of daughter Audra while Dern portrays Judge Adams and Majors — who portrayed the Heath Barkley character on the TV series — will play the Tom Barkley role in the film.

Stephen Moyer (“True Blood”) has been announced as the role of the eldest son Jarrod. Jason Alan Smith and Travis Fimmel have also been cast.

“The Big Valley” is written and directed by Daniel Adams with the screenplay inspired by the original pilot from the TV series. The film is exec produced by Kate Edelman Johnson, whose late father Louis F. Edelman created the series, and produced by Straw Weisman and Steven Brandman.
