Michael Sheen and Toni Collette are toplining Red Om Films’ family comedy “Jesus Henry Christ” with Julia Roberts, Philip Rose and Lisa Gillan producing through Red Om.
Sukee Chew of Hopscotch Pictures is also producing. Dennis Lee’s directing from his own script, based on his 2003 short, which won a student Academy Award.
“Jesus Henry Christ” follows a genius boy conceived in a Petri dish and raised by a loving, left-wing feminist. His world is turned upside down when he discovers he has a half sister, leading a trail to his biological father.
Sheen plays a professor and author whose guilt and unhappiness may be abated with the newfound knowledge that he has a son.
Collette portrays a feminist who, after a lifetime taking care of a family of men, dedicates her life and political beliefs to her son — the one man she truly loves.
“Jesus” began shooting this week in Toronto.
Lee collaborated with Roberts on Senator’s family drama “Fireflies in the Garden,” which also starred Ryan Reynolds and Emily Watson and hasn’t yet been released.
