Caleb Landry Jones to join U's Mark Wahlberg thriller

Caleb Landry Jones is in talks to join the cast of U’s “Contraband” with Mark Wahlberg.

Pic is a remake of the Icelandic pic “Reykjavic-Rotterdam” and is being directed by Baltasar Kormakur, who also penned, produced and starred in the original.

Besides Wahlberg, Kate Beckinsale, Ben Foster and Giovanni Ribisi have also been cast.

Penned by Aaron Guzikowski, the pic is about a former smuggler turned security guard who after facing financial troubles is forced to do one last job.

Jones will play the brother-in-law to Walhberg’s character who botches a smuggling run that helps bring Wahlberg back into the smuggling game.

Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce through their Working Title banner. Wahlberg, Kormakur and Stephen Levinson also will produce.

Production is set to start in early 2011 with Universal planning to release the pic on March 16, 2012.

Jones will be seen next in Fox’s “X-Men: First Class,” which will bow June 3.

He is repped by Paradigm and Untitled Entertainment.
