Summit Entertainment has nabbed bank heist spec “Now You See Me” from Boaz Yakin and Edward Ricourt. Project is set up with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci at their Kurtzman Orci Paper Products shingle.
“Now You See Me” pits a crack FBI squad in a game of cat and mouse against a team of the world’s greatest illusionists, who pull off a series of daring bank heists during their performances, showering the profits on their audiences.
Yakin will exec produce along with Kurtzman Orci Paper Products’ Bobby Cohen.
Yakin most recently co-wrote the screenplay of “Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time” and will next direct the thriller “Safe,” starring Jason Statham.
Ricourt’s a member of Marvel Studios’ writing program and has written “Year 12” with Joe Roth producing.
Kurtzman and Orci wrote and exec produced Paramount’s “Star Trek” and are writing the second installment — which Par’s already dated for June 29, 2012 — with Damon Lindelof. The duo’s also writing and producing comic book adaptation “Cowboys and Aliens,” co-financed by DreamWorks and Universal for release in July 2011. Erik Feig, Michael Schaefer and Ashley Schlaifer will oversee for Summit. Yakin, Ricourt, Kurtzman and Orci are repped by CAA. Yakin is managed by Cinetic Media.
