Summit announced today that it has acquired domestic distribution rights to Katherine Heigl’s “Adaline,” with plans for a first quarter 2012 release.
Lakeshore International and Sierra Pictures will handle international rights.
Heigl, who also is set to exec produce, will play a young woman at the turn of the 20th Century, who is rendered ageless after an accident. Pic is directed by Andy Tennant from a script by J. Mills Goodloe, Salvador Paskowitz and Allison Burnett.
Sidney Kimmel and Jim Tauber are producing through their Sidney Kimmel Entertainment shingle. Tom Rosenberg and Gary Lucchesi, from Lakeshore Entertainment, also share producing credits, along with Steve Golin and Alix Madigan of Anonymous Content.
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with our partners at Lakeshore Entertainment and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment and look forward to bringing the film to the silver screen,” Summit CEO and co-chairman Rob Friedman said in a statement.
“Adaline” is set to begin lensing in March.
