'Queen of the Desert' helmer boards Australian comedy

Stephan Elliott, director of “The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert,” will direct Australian comedy “A Few Best Men.”

Laurence Malkin, Share Stallings and Todd Fellman are producing with Gary Hamilton’s Arclight Films. “A Few Best Men” will shoot on locations in Queensland, Australia, with production scheduled to commence in August.

Dean Craig penned the script, focused on a young groom and his three “best men” who travel to the Australian outback for a destination wedding that is as funny as it is disastrous. Craig, Arclight’s Mark Lindsay, and Josh Kesselman are the exec producers.

Arclight Films is handling worldwide sales.

Elliott most recently directed the comedy “Easy Virtue” and is preparing for “Priscilla The Musical,” which is scheduled to open on Broadway in March 2011.

Malkin and Stallings were producers of the original “Death at a Funeral” in 2007 and Craig was the writer. Malkin is skedded to direct thriller “Cooked” in Puerto Rico, and is writing “Warrior” for Working Title Films with his scribe partner, Chad Thumann.
