“If you think the people on ‘Sex and the City’ are iconically fashionable, they are not. The people sitting over there are,” announced Cynthia Nixon, pointing to the film’s fashion-and-style crew. Christine Baranski, Phylicia Rashad and Jodie Foster joined Nixon in saluting the hair, makeup and costume magicians at the New York Women in Film and Television’s Designing Women gala, held May 25 at Macy’s.
“When Marie Antoinette ran away from Versailles, she took … her husband, the king, the dauphin and her hairdresser,” Nixon revealed, because the latter was one of the queen’s “best friends.” The actress could relate. “You go to these people and sit in their chair and you tell them things and they tell you things. It becomes an extremely intimate relationship.” –
