Farrell, Hartnett starrers to get German distribution

BERLIN — Splendid Film has acquired a number of high-profile international titles for German-speaking territories and the Benelux countries.

The Cologne-based distrib picked up Peter Weir’s survival drama “The Way Back,” starring Jim Sturgess and Colin Farrell, Guy Moshe’s star-studded fantasy actioner “Bunraku,” with Josh Hartnett, Ron Perlman and Demi Moore, as well as Jalmari Helander’s Finnish holiday comedy “Rare Exports: A Christmas Tale” and Lee Jeong-beom’s hit Korean actioner “This Man” — aka “Man from Nowhere” — about a lonely man with a dark hidden past who goes on the warpath to save a kidnapped girl.

Splendid plans to release “The Way Back” in cinemas in 2011, while “Rare Exports” is due to hit screens this year in time for Christmas.

“Bunraku” and “This Man” will go out directly as home entertainment releases.
