Dax Shepard is set to launch production company Primate Pictures with Nate Tuck and David Palmer, his collaborators on indie comedy “Brother’s Justice,” which premieres this weekend at the Austin Film Festival.
Based in Los Angeles, Primate will focus on lower-budget, original fare with modest B.O. expectations. Company will aim to produce at least one pic per year.
Tuck co-stars in “Brother’s Justice,” and Palmer co-directs with Shepard, who’s a regular on the NBC dramedy “Parenthood.” The mockumentary film chronicles Shepard’s attempts to toss his comedy career in favor of a becoming a martial arts star. Tom Arnold, Bradley Cooper, Jon Favreau and Ashton Kutcher also appear in the pic.
Fabrication Films recently signed on to rep the feature internationally, with Parlay’s Kevin Iwashina aboard as the domestic rep.
