‘Sea’ sold to Strand

Film set for a late fall release

Strand Releasing has acquired all U.S. rights to Donatella Maiorca’s romance “Purple Sea” and plans a late fall release.

“Purple Sea” is based on a true story about two young women who fall deeply in love near Sicily.

The film was directed by Maiorca and inspired by the novel by Giacomo Pilati. Screenplay’s by Mario Cristiani, Donatella Diamanti, Maiorca and Pina Mandolfo.

“Purple Sea” will screen at this year’s Frameline Festival in San Francisco, Newfest in New York and Outfest in Los Angeles. The pic premiered at the Rome Film Festival and was released in Italy by Medusa.
