Screen Media takes pride in ‘Lion’

Family adventure movie stars live lions

Screen Media has pounced on Northern American rights to “White Lion,” a family-friendly adventure pic helmed by Michael Swan.

Live-action “Lion” stars some 30 lions wrangled by Kevin Richardson, who is also a producer on the film. Story revolves around a lion cub overcoming adversity to take on a pride of his own.

Shot in South Africa, the movie picked up kudos at the South African Film and Television Awards for cinematography, music composition and sound design.

Screen Media plans to partner with U.S. zoos in an effort to promote the movie Stateside.

Distribution deal was negotiated by Screen Media’s Robert Baruc and David Fannon and Showcase Entertainment’s David Jackson. Recent releases for Screen Media include “City of Your Final Destination” and “The Private Lives of Pippa Lee.”
