Sarah Jessica Parker’s heading to New York and “New Year’s Eve,” joining New Line’s ensemble comedy.Halle Berry’s become the latest thesp to enter into negotiations for the pic, to be directed by Garry Marshall. Other cast — in various stages of negotiations — includes Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Michelle Pfeiffer and Hilary Swank. Biel and Kutcher were in Marshall’s “Valentine’s Day,” but the characters from that New Line pic won’t be in “New Year’s Eve” — which will be set in New York and follow intertwining stories of characters trying to navigate their way through romance on New Year’s Eve. Marshall is expected to return to direct, as are producers Mike Karz and Wayne Rice, and screenwriter Katherine Fugate. New Line has given “New Year’s Eve” a Dec. 9, 2011, release date.
