Modern Master Award: James Cameron

Award recognizes actors who have had a strong influence on American cinema. Other SBIFF honorees include Peter Sarsgaard, Christoph Waltz, Stanley Tucci and Vera Farmiga (Cinema Vanguard Award, taking artistic risks) and Carey Mulligan, Saoirse Ronan, Gabourey Sidibe and Michael Stuhlbarg (Virtuosos Award, distinguished perfs in 2009). Documentary “The Cove,” about the abuse and killing of dolphins in Japan, receives the David Attenborough Award for excellence in nature filmmaking.
