Rocky Mountain picks up football drama

'The 5th Quarter' set for March release

Rocky Mountain Pictures will release football drama “The 5th Quarter,” starring Andie MacDowell and Aidan Quinn, in March at about 150 locations.

Story revolves around the 2006 Wake Forest U. football season, when Jon Abbate decided to dedicate the season to his brother Luke, who was killed in a car accident, and changed his jersey to Luke’s No. 5. His team became the most improved in America during that season. Fox will handle the DVD and video-on-demand release following the theatrical run.

“The 5th Quarter,” written and directed by Rick Bieber, won awards at film festivals in Charleston, Long Island, Louisville and Boston. The film was produced through Bieber’s Angel City Pictures in association with McCreary Entertainment.
