Relativity Media will release Nicolas Cage-Ron Perlman supernatural action-adventure “Season of the Witch” at the domestic B.O. on Jan. 7.
Directed by Dominic Sena (“Swordfish”), film is produced by Atlas Entertainment’s Charles Roven and Alex Gartner. Atlas’ Alan Glazer is exec producing.
Film stars Cage and Perlman as a pair of medieval knights ordered to accompany a mysterious young woman accused of witchcraft to a remote abbey for trial. The journey will test their strength and courage as they discover the secret of the woman’s power and find themselves fighting a battle of biblical proportions.
Pic introduces actress Claire Foy as the young woman.
“Season of the Witch” was initially set to go out through Lionsgate, which had an output deal with Relativity. Now that Relativity has its own distribution and marketing arm, it will release the film itself.
Relativity’s growing 2011 slate already included “Kids In America” (March 4th) and “The Dark Fields” (March 18).
