Producer Alex Ross is developing a $20 million Charles Dickens feature.
“The Chimes,” written by U.K. scribe Callie Lane, is a romantic tale about the “A Christmas Carol” author and a mysterious beauty named Isabella.
Lane will also develop the project into a stage musical.
“‘The Chimes’ is a deeply imaginative script about one of the world’s favourite authors,” Ross says. “We can’t wait to bring this compelling love story to stage and screen audiences.’
Project, still bereft of actors and a director, is scheduled to shoot in Italy and France in Summer 2011.
Ross most recently produced “The List” at Warner Bros.
